Let me start by making a confession: I am not a Gamer. Despite the fact that I kinda suck at gaming, I’ve always found a bit of a guilty pleasure in watching others play games. Basically, I’m that friend that (very vocally) encourages you while you are kicking all the butts, pokes fun at you for failing to kick said butts; while making snacks, prepping drinks, and playing with your dog.
Being a Gaming Spectator, as some of my buddies have called me, makes me some sort of Unofficial Expert™ in watching others enjoy their video games. That’s why when I tried out the Sliver.TV App on Android, via both the Google Daydream and Samsung Gear VR platforms, I instantly understood why the company had recently secured a $9.8million Series A investment. Seven investors participated in the round: Danhua Capital, DCM Ventures, Sierra Ventures, Samsung Ventures, Sony Venture Capital, Heuristic Capital Partners, and ZP Capital.
Sliver.tv is a platform to record, view, and stream top esports games in fully immersive, 360-degree cinematic VR video. The company’s patented technology immerses audiences inside 3D game worlds, allowing them to view their favorite players and matches in a way never seen before.
I watched the ESL One Cologne Grand Final, which was played in a SOLD-OUT Lanxess arena, between Cloud9 vs SK Gaming, and truly loved my experience. I felt the vantage point I was provided gave me a VIP seat near the competitors, a great way to look at the crowd, while enjoying watching others Gaming.
But wait! There’s More! You can also WIN while watching! Earn free coins and skins (redeemable via STEAM), which you can then use to bet on games. The more you watch, the more you earn. Simple concept. Love it.
I definitely recommend you give it a try.
