I tried Atlas Obscura VR - AND I LOVE IT!

Atlas Obscura is a particular, wonderful beast. It has become the definitive guide to the world’s wondrous and curious places. In a World with Google Earth, countless “nature” and “travel” shows that give us the impression that everything seems to have been explored and there is nothing new to be found, Atlas Obscura celebrates a different way of looking at our Planet.

From underground complexes to miniature cities, glass flowers, books bound in human skin, gigantic flaming holes in the ground, bone churches, balancing pagodas, or homes built entirely out of paper, the Atlas Obscura is where you’ll find them.

The explorers recently teamed up with California-based StartVR, known for their VR Noir project, to take their uncanny view of our world to the next frontier: Virtual Reality via Atlas Obscura VR.

As soon as it popped up on the Gear VR’s Oculus store, I immediately downloaded it and proceeded to live the Experience. I have one word: WOW.

I do not want to spoil any of the phenomenal content, so I will only point out the beautiful mixture of Computer-generated imagery with crisp 360 Video, well-thought out Hotspots, 360 Spatial Sound, along with regular video & photography. Fully interactive, this 15/20 minute Experience is worth every megabite. Ok maybe a super-minor spoiler: The intro starts in a dome that feels like Professor X’s Cerebro. Yeah. It’s cool.

Currently, the experience is available on the Gear VR only, though the site promisses additional platforms to be added soon. This is a must for all 360VR Community enthusiasts.
