We’ve all seen the memes that make fun about how “back in the day” our Moms would tell us not to sit so close to the TV, because it would kill our eyes, and here we are strapping on VR Headsets.
Well, this one’s for you, Mama (and VR Haters): The Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Future Visual Entertainment has just published a Study that posits “that extended use of high-end VR headsets like the Samsung Gear VR, Google Daydream, HTC Vive, or Oculus Rift can have beneficial effects on preteens’ vision, in some cases actually improving kids’ myopia or hyperopia. The key, according to the study, is using a high-end headset with a “properly designed virtual image distance.”
We’ll take that result with a “Salt-Bae” Grain of Salt, although that part won’t make it to mom’s ears.
