California/Seoul-based Looxid Labs is no stranger to the 360VR Community, as we followed their TechCrunch Disrupt activities with much interest. This week at CES 2018, being held in Las Vegas from January 9-12, they are officially launching their product, which has picked up a CES 2018 Best of Innovation Award.
Looxid Labs has shown off its brain-monitoring VR headset. The LooxidVR headset features built-in eye-tracking cameras and EEG sensors, allowing it to monitor the vision and brainwave activity of a user. The device is a phone-based VR headset and is compatible with 5.0-inch smartphones running Android 7.1 or higher.
While the headset can be used for conventional VR applications, Looxid Labs is aiming its product at the VR research market. The data acquired from the headset’s eye-tracking cameras and brainwave sensors will allow researchers to measure the effect virtual reality has on a user.
Looxid Labs will begin pre-orders of the LooxidVR headset on 1 February 2018.
