Today at CES, being held in Las Vegas from Januaray 9-12, Oculus announced that it has partnered with Xiaomi and Qualcomm for new VR headsets.
Xiaomi is Oculus’s hardware partner for the global launch of its Oculus Go standalone VR headset. Xiaomi also revealed the Mi VR Standalone headset, which is being developed in partnership with Oculus and will be exclusive to the Chinese market. Both head-mounted displays are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 mobile VR platform, and Oculus said it has worked closely with the chip manufacturer to deliver high levels of VR performance.
The Xiaomi Mi VR headset will support the Oculus Mobile SDK, and the Chinese manufacturer is working with devs to localise popular content on the Oculus store.
