HTC will be hosting its Vive Developer Conference (VDC 2017) in Beijing this coming November 14, and if all the rumors are true, that would be the date that the HTC Standalone VR Headset would be unveiled. As we reported back in May during the 2017 Google I/O Conference, HTC and Lenovo are both supposed to launch untethered Standalone VR Headsets “by End of Year”, based on a “blueprint design” by Google and Qualcomm.
Qualcomm would design/provide the “guts”, while Google provides the WorldSense tech. We reported in September that Vive had filed to Trademark the Vive Focus name, which sparked rumors of the upcoming release.
With the announcement of the Oculus Go at Facebook’s OC4 Conference, we believe that Vive is poised to officially announce its own Standalone VR Headset.
What a time to be alive!
