LEAKED: New Google Daydream View, Google Pixelbook, Google Home Mini, more

So Much Google News lately!!! As reported late last week, Google revealed plans to unveil new Pixel smartphones at an October 4th event. The video above, courtesy of Business Insider, shows everything we know about the phones so far. But the new Google Pixel 2 & Google Pixel XL 2 may not be the only thing unveiled at the October 4 event…

Details about the new Google Pixelbook, Google Home Mini, and a new Daydream VR headset have been revealed by Droid Life.

First off, news about the new Daydream View: the updated model looks to be made of a nylon-like fabric, better able to withstand sweat than the jersey-like material of its predecessor. Just like the first version did, the new version will also feature three color options: Charcoal, Fog, and Coral. Rumors state that it would be priced at $99 USD. Through the updated design, Google has a chance to continue to capitalize on the unique advantages it brings to the table: the portability, comfort, and versatility that Gear VR lacks (Gear is compatible only with Samsung phones), as the list of Daydream-compatible smartphones is now up to 10.

The Google Pixelbook, successor to last year’s Chromebook Pixel, seems to take a direct aim at Microsoft’s Surface. The laptop will be another high-end offering by Google and will be the first iteration that can be folded into a tablet. the Pixelbook will be accompanied by a pressure-sensitive stylus called the Pixebook Pen. No other details about the laptop have been revealed other than the storage variants and their prices. The 128GB base variant will be priced at $1199 USD, while the 256GB and 512GB variants are expected to be priced at $1399 USD, and $1749 USD respectively. My main question is: will Google FINALLY merge Android with ChromeOS?!

Last but most definitely not the least, the 3rd product leaked is the Google Home Mini. The smaller sibling of the Google Home, the Mini is meant to compete with Amazon Echo Dot and will be powered by Google Assistant, which many pundits, myself included, claim to be the best virtual assistant to date. The smart speaker will be available in the same color scheme as the aforementioned Daydream View 2: Chalk, Charcoal, and Coral colours. The Home Mini is rumored to be priced at $49 USD.

As with all pre-release leaks, we urge you to take this info with a grain of salt, although considering the sources, this feels to us like Salt Bae-sized salt portions 😉
