A decade ago, OptiTrack started selling its 3D tracking solutions into multiple industries. VFX companies have been using their tracking tech & solutions for quite some time now, through motion-capture suits, etc.
When Oculus & HTC Vive came out, the company realized they could use and commercialize the same tech to VR Companies. “Oculus and Vive have both very good trackers — but they are limited to room-scale,” said OptiTrack Chief Strategy Officer Brian Niles during a recent interview with Variety.
OptiTrack’s body sensors promise whole-body skeletal tracking, which sounds perfect for VR Arcades and other multiplayer venues. Attached to your hands and feet, it is said to provide accurate positional tracking, emulating movements, such as aiming a weapon or peeking around a corner, much more naturally.
Can’t wait to try them on!
