This past month, Virtual Reality stole the show during the 2017 edition of the North American Broadcast Show, held in the beautiful Las Vegas Convention Center. From the entrance pavilion being decorated with VR Imagery, to the enormous section dedicated to 360VR, the Industry was front and center in this, the most important gathering of Content Broadcasters & Creators.
The Team at 360VR Community had the opportunity to meet with some of the more prominent figures of the Virtual Reality sphere (pun intended). From Product Manufacturers to Broadcast Executives, Directors to Storage Solutions providers, VR had strong representation. For the full recap of the NAB Show CLICK HERE.
One of the folks I had the pleasure of chatting with was Josh Dixon, Head of Samsung 3D 360 Camera – Lead Emerging Products at Samsung. We spoke about a few of their upcoming Business Solutions for VR, but mainly their latest creation, Live Broadcast-Ready Samsung 360 Camera, of which he is the Company’s Lead. Dixon has an infectious passion for 360° Cinematography and its Future, which is a great thing to see coming from such an important manufacturer. The excitement was palpable in the booth, the entire Samsung team beaming.
The Camera is meant for Professional use, as made evident by this confident statement: “ Samsung’s 3D 360 Camera is a real differentiator for broadcasters, producers and filmmakers”, said Dixon, The product offers real-time 3D Live Streaming, IP65 compliance, all packed into a small-form factor.”
Currently still in the User Trials process with a yet-to-be-announce Launch Date, the Camera promises to deliver stunning resolution at 4K per eye, as it is a Stereoscopic Camera. Watch the Full Interview with Josh Dixon below, and don’t forget to Subscribe to the 360VR YouTube Channel for more!
